Microsoft’s Windows and Windows Live division president Steven Sinofsky yesterday previewed Internet Explorer 9 at the Professional Developer’s Conference.
Sinofsky showed IE9 to attendees, an early build, and explaining that this version of the browser will focus on support for new standards like HTML5 and CSS3, as well as developing a faster JavaScript rendering engine.
According to Sinofsky, IE9 will adhere more to newer standards alongside their own standard. IE9 will make use of DirectX-based hardware accelerated graphics and text. To prove the point, Sinofsky showed that IE8 can render Bing maps at 14 frames per second. With hardware acceleration in IE9 turned on, he got 60 frames per second.
